Dungeons

I had originally hoped that that I'd be finished with the all the maps before the end of August 31st and it looks like that'll come to pass. Light Tower Dungeon is a huge bitch. Lower floors, the north tower floors, the southwest tower floors, the southeast tower floors, and the upper floors and it's over 23 floors. One thing I heard is that all the Endless Hallway monsters give you no experience. I know there are still a few maps (mainly dungeons) that need their names fixed I'm sure. I've been thinking that a little reformatting of the map dungeon maps might look more aesthetically pleasing, so that instead of the format the way it is now, it'd be like:

map image
NPCs and landmarks
monsters
monster materials

Then again, the fields and cities seem just fine with the current format. Since the dungeons have so many maps on one page I thought it looked weird, but it might just be me. With the maps done, I'm shooting for having the synthesis lists done by the end of September. ~ Tasky 19:25, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Wow, yeah that is a huge dungeon! I could see that format working well. Let's pick a random on and play with the formatting a bit. If it looks better we can apply that formatting to the rest of them.
I've acquired the tools to unpack the client dat files, and according to the data I've ripped from the Indonesian ECO, the Endless Hallway is named "Infinite Corridor", and it's not that the infinite corridor monsters give no exp, they just give very little.
In case you haven't noticed I'm working on User:Monbot/Test. This is going to be one hell of an awesome bot! =D It can extract the data from the client, create a grand monster list, create an article for every monster, AND keep it all updated in 1-click whenever a patch comes out. We're missing the pictures of all the monsters though. :( I'm trying to finish it off today so let me get a bit further with that before I start playing with the other articles. Arhontalk 22:27, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Holy snapdragons! How did you manage to get the tools? Oh, and if it's monster images you're worried about, then I have virtually all of them. There are some that are a bit scarcer... ~ Tasky 03:11, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
I simply asked for the password lol :) Now I can get all of the data. Let me know if you need the dat unpacking tool. I have every monster (nearly 1000 of them) in a database, and every item (over 4000 of them) in the same database. So I can do lookups for item drops and such. But I cant figure out what the monster behavior is from the numbers. Either I didn't get something translated right, I'm not reading the data right, or it simply isn't in the client data.
The bot is going to base the monster locations off of the "What links here" function on the wiki. I know some of them will be missing locations at first. For example: "Endless Hallway XXX" wont link to "Infinite Corridor XXX", so it wont know that the monster is in the Infinite Corridor. But after we find and fix the red links I can run the bot again and it will repair all of the articles.

Also, for the needed images check out the list. The names have to match exactly, case sensitive, and be in jpg format. So the image for "Killer Bee" has to be "Killer Bee.jpg". The highest resolution possible, we really need the base images to be at least 300px wide for article pages. Feel free to start uploading :) Arhontalk 03:58, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, could you give me them? What was the password anyway? And by behavior do you mean, aggressive, passive, and cooperative? Although they call them active, nonactive, and link in Japan. I could fill those in, too. ~ Tasky 04:14, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
I sent you a PM on the forums. And, yeah that's what I mean by behavior. It's nothing but numbers and the descriptions were all in korean and japanese. Looks like the english translations are based of off korean translations of japanese lol. So at the moment I am at a loss on whether it's in the data I have or not. Arhontalk 04:20, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Thank you. I also find it interesting that there are no records of monsters at all from the Titania world in the monster lists. ~ Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄ƷTaskyƸ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 23:26, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
I guess that confirms that those worlds do not yet exist in this version. It must be a later saga when they get released. Only then will we have the official data for them. Arhontalk 01:16, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Ugh, I've been gone for several days since I was left netless, but on the bright side my connection is now a lot faster... Anyway, I guess the Dominion world isn't there either and I'm not sure whether the Infinite Corridor monsters differ in appearance from their regular versions. ~ Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄ƷTaskyƸ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒs ‡ 22:38, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
Owch, I hate it when the internet is down for even an hour, let alone days ^_^ But a faster connection is always worth some trouble. Yeah, it seems that neither of the new worlds exist in the current saga. I'll look up the Infinite Corridor models later and see what they look like. I can take some good pics of them and confirm the models using the mrb model viewer. Arhontalk 01:43, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

Been too busy lately

Sorry I haven't posted any updates in the last couple days. I've been kept really busy by work projects this week. I'll try to make some time this weekend. Arhontalk 02:04, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

/ggFTW! Merging Proposal

I'll skip the 'persuasion through big numbers' and cut right to the chase.

I'm Noperative from the /ggFTW! Wiki and we believe that we're better equipped to be the wiki for ECO. However, we're painfully lacking in manpower and have around 4000 pages we need made before the OBT. So we have a solution, if you team up with /ggFTW! the growth of an english ECO wiki would increase dramatically. Since your templates aren't needed, most of the basic data from your wiki is easily moved to ours, though the same is more difficult for us. Personally, I find it quite admirable that you would take to initiative to make an ECO wiki as well as having enough ability and motivation to keep it going. I would find it much more productive to work with you rather than against you. But even you must admit that our wiki serves the purpose as a database better.

Please consider our request.

Hi! I'm sorry but we have way too many people who have invested way too many hours working on this site to just take it down and merge just because you're on a domain with a higher alexa rating. To be honest, I don't like big conglomerate gaming sites. I see MMOG and it looks like another site trying to become IGN, and I absolutely despise IGN. This site is wholly dedicated to ECO and I have no interest in trying to make money off of it.
In the end we have too many people who have put in huge amounts of time and effort building this site. We have a more articles, more authors, more traffic, a more modern version of the wiki software, with more extensions, better upload support, and a faster server. And it's all dedicated to ECO, no namespacing, no ads, no drama.
Your really dedicated, I know you've put in many hours too and I agree that it would be much more productive to work together. I wish you guys would help us build this site instead of starting a competing wiki. :(

What the hell Noperative? How would your site serve as a better database? From Arhon's site, he can manually manage all the data and everything on the site, as he freakin owns it and stuff. He has most of the templates ready for your data too, and he's started way before you and started asking for help and stuff. It's your own damn fault that you decided to make another wiki on some site that people will never find it at. It's like the 2nd page on google, and has a very obscure http. This site is much easier to find, and only focused on the wiki, not having all this other crap about things like urs does.

Its Arhon to decide, but its kinda sad if he gonna abandon this site as there are many contributors spending many hours to build this wiki. and yeah unlike yours, this whole wiki dedicated ECO. Why not merge on here instead on yours?? with your wiki experience, maybe Arhon gonna promote you to become an admin? lol. Please consider our request.
